Workforce Certificate

This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Seaport Security Officer career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order rea­soning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Seaport Security Officer career cluster.

The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as Seaport Security Officers (SOC 33-9032) in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 33 of the Code of Federal Regulations (33 CFR), the requirements of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement the requirements of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DOACS) Chapter 493, Florida Statutes (F.S.), (Chapter 311, Florida Statutes (F.S.), and the requirements of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DOACS) Chapter 493, (F.S.), and Chapter 5N-1, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.).

Certification and Licensing

The student will earn a workforce certificate upon successful completion of this program. Licensure of a Class D Security Officer is required prior to, or concurrent with, obtaining certification as a Seaport Security Officer per section 311.121, F.S.
